Bavarians in traditional costumes attend the horse-parade ‘Leonhardifahrt’. The annual pilgrimage honors St. Leonhard, patron saint of the highland farmers for horses and livestock whose feast day is on November 6th.
Since 1855, Leonhardifahrt (Leonhard-Parade), one of the greatest pilgrimages on horse and with horse-drawn carriages, has been celebrated in Bad Toelz. The pilgrimage is rich in tradition, citizens and peasants wear their best clothes and the horses and carriages are beautifully decorated.
